Regiments / V. N O R T H U M B E R L A N D - Service Grade Insignia
« on: September 25, 2018, 05:24:40 pm »
Hey guys! Guess what! I am working now on some insignia for the our service grades. It should be historical accurate and also match our regiment.

Here a few insignia:

   Serjeant Major

Spoiler: FULL SIZE • show

It does also work for poster formats

If you want to give a like, give a like, or die:

Welcome to the regiment:
Recruit. Fred McTaggart

Bloody hell, yes! Another countryman!

just to make it clear:

you mean the old german for these ranks or the current german for them?

What I've said was the comparison between old (right) and current (left) german grammar.

I would suggest to try something new, new designs is always fresh and is far away of "I've seen this everyday". It looks very nice what you've made but it's getting boring for me. Try something new or combine things. People will also more recognize you because of your own style.

Be more revolutionary! :D

You are a Designer now!

This could be for our website or somewhere else. I am using this as signature right now.  :-*
Neoptolemus loves it so much that he is even using that as a profile picture.

If you need another German translator you can ask me (preferrably by mail (or if possible by direct massage here))

Yes, we'll need a german to help us with our Hessians. I'll keep you in mind thank you!

I am not sure if the Hessians had the same or similiar grammar like the austrians had.

Like (Corporal, PFC, Lance Corporal) Gefreiter = Gefreyter (old and original)
(Corporal) Korporal = Corporal
(Recruit) Rekrut = Recrut
(Lieutenant) Oberleutnant = Oberlieutenant
(Lieutenant, 2nd Lt.) Unterleutnant = Unterlieutenant
(Captain-Lieutenant) Kapitän-Leutnant = Capitän-Lieutenant
(Cadet) Kadett = Cadet/ Cadett
(Officer) Offizier = Officier
(NCO) Unteroffizier = Unterofficier
(Enlisted) Mannschaft / Chargen
(Friday) Freitag = Freytag
Vize-Korporal = Vice-Corporal

Something like that.
It does look like it's written in english. ^^

Even though the 43rd doesn't exist, I hope my thread is still good enough and the poster for the 5th (things will also be added sooner or later) that I made is also not bad.

I have to admit that I do love vector graphics because it's nice, clean and sizeable.

The basics are done in our Drill Manual but the next thing will be:

Drawing a Company
  - Assembly
  - Fall-in, Single Rank
  - By Two's Number
  - By Two's Form Files, Close To The Right
  - Inspection, Open Order - Rear Rank Dress
  - Close Order (To close the Open Order)
  - Change Front by Counter-March to the Flanks (It's very simple and it keeps the formation without changing positions of each man)

Drawing a Battalion
(I will think and search about it)

Forming a Square by Company (and by Battalion)
(I will think and search about it)

Battalion- / Platoon-, Section-/ File by Files-Fire
(I guess you can imagine that)

Maneuvers in Platoons / Sections / Battalions

After all standard foot-wibbly-wobbly-stuff we'll come to the Light Infantry Manuals (part of this drill manual)
Light Infantries will use the Open Order stuff more often than the Line and it should also have manuals for maneuvering in tiny paths or for other typical Light Infantry jobs.

We have merged with the 7th Royal Fusiliers to the 5th Northumberland.
