Regiments / Queens Rangers, 1st American Regiment of Canada. [EU]

The Queen's York Rangers (1st American Regiment) RCAC trace their direct origins to Robert Rogers and his Rangers in 1756 during the French and Indian Wars. Disbanded after seven years of hard service, Rogers reformed the Rangers in 1775 and they soon were carried on the British Army list as the Queen's Rangers, First American Regiment. The Rangers were particularly distinguished under John Graves Simcoe in 1777 at the Battle of Brandywine and were shipped to New Brunswick at the end of the war in 1783. When Simcoe was appointed to be the first Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, he made a stop in New Brunswick and raised the Queen's Rangers again and brought them with him in 1793. The Rangers were stood down again in 1802 and became the York Militia. They became active again during the War of 1812 and again during the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837-38.

Regiments / Regarding Regiment Claims. [Active 05/8/2018]

In the past we allowed first come first served, this system has flaws.

Keep in mind, Whigs & Tories has an ingame regiment system so use of the forums is very important if you wish to keep your claim.

Regimental claims will only be valid if you provide evidence of the regiments exsistence along with active use of the forums. If you aren't booking events, posting regimental images or generally communicating with the community your claim is void.

Also trolling and negative behaviour in events or around the community will get your regiment deleted from the game, if you're set out to ruin peoples fun we will not offer you a platform to do so. This however can be reversed with evidence of behaviour changes.

If a user is holding a name hasn't been online since the posts creation/offline for 1+ years that is also a notice of vacancy.

Regiments come and go but legacys do not. Just because you have an emotional attachment to a name but you can no longer run the regiment doesn't mean you are allowed to keep that name.

If you were the last legitimate name holder for example [41st] You as the leader have the right to give that name to however you feel is worthy, once it is given it is no longer yours. If you decide the name is free with a last post on your regimental thread then whoever picks it up first claims that name.


User2001 says: But I dont wan't to use the forums, I just want to play.

Then you cannot run a regiment. The forums allow you to talk to other regiments, follow news, book events and even improve recruiting.

Part 2!

Hello and welcome to the second and final part of blog 11!
We 've been busy creating new maps, fixing bugs and implementing other useful gameplay features for our alpha testers. Polishing the game in general.

A Note on Alpha Release:
As you can see in the video below, there is a server up and running and the game can be distributed. We, as developers, do not feel that it is quite ready yet for alpha testing. We don't want to rush things, especially now that we are getting closer to our goals for Alpha and we certainly don't want our alpha testers to feel cheated. Fear not however, alpha time is nigh!

Our next blog (Blog 12) will be the Alpha release and it will be published once we have perfected melee (we know what's wrong, don't worry) and have fixed a couple of other things.

7th Fusiliers Official asks: What regiments can we expect to see?

Answer: As many as possible

Saris asks: Will there be naval battles and will we get to use the turtle?

Answer: We'd like to do naval but not in a way that's been done before. No the Turtle will not be in WaT.

116th_Lord_OliverZouch asks:
1. Will there be different types of muskets for different classes (units/regiments).
2. Will you be able to aim down the musket not like in holdfast but i mean actually look down the sights because they did have sights front and rear.
3. How far into the alpha are you?


Answer: 1. Yes 2. no 3. Very

1. Will there be wounded animations if so how long will the animation last.
2.Character customization for this will there be ways to create your own face have a variety of different beards glasses and hairstyles?
3.Uniform customization for deciding how clean or dirty the uniform is such as having the option to have holes in the uniformed dirt and dust all over.   
4.How will artillery work?
5. Will there be voice chat if so how will it work in game?

Answer: 1. Yes and not too long maybe 2-3 seconds. 2. We will allow people to create custom faces but hair will models that you can select which you want. 3. No 4. Will show this in a blog. 5. Yes, you'll be able to talk to people near you. 6. Yes, legs will be blown off.

1. How many players do you want to be able to hold in 1 server?
2. Are there some spec recommended requirements already?


Answer: 1. 200+ 2. Anything from 2014 can run our game (as long as it's not a notebook)


[VG]LeRoyaliste/Baptiste Asks: can we expect a French army in the first versions? or when are you going to create it?

Answer: France will be in the final release along with Hessians.

It's been a while...

Hello and welcome to PART 1 of blog 11! This part of the blog will demonstrate what we have been working on this includes Melee, weapons, UI and animations. We've also changed alot under the hood, visually the game looks, feels and plays much smoother.

Here's a video. (nerves return)

I didn't really show off feinting too well in this video, next one I will be sure to cover it.


Other news.

Alpha - It's around the corner. As of today [30/06/18] we are able to join and play on our dedicated server, alpha testers will be allowed to join once we've ironed out some issues.

Playable units - We've created alot of uniforms which we wanted to be playable in Alpha but due to the fact we changed our skeleton, the rigging for these meshes isnt compatible. Our Modeler Makii left the team again, no reason given. His role was to update these meshes with correct rigging, until this is completed we can only offer what is shown in the video above in alpha.

Kickstarter
- Yes, we're interested in running a kickstarter. As mentioned above we are without an experienced character artist and without money to pay for one kickstarter is our only option.

Hello boys and girls, we hope you've got as much snow as we do! Welcome to Blog 10.5 hard to come up with a title for this one.

The team has been working overtime to bring blog 11 to reality but not everything is picture perfect or well video perfect in this case so while we wait here's a blog to add that one.

Many of the fuctions you will see here will add in the gameplay of Blog 11.

Well Parrot has created a new skeleton for us from scratch, this means we must abandon everything we've done before not only with Animations but with how our character is designed, this is no small feet and theres no one better than Richard who as been filling this void piece by piece.

Development Notes / Development Blog 10 - Brick by brick (Gameplay)

Hello boys and girls, we hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Welcome to Blog 10, Brick by Brick.

The team has been working really hard on the game and it feels like it is really coming along. At this point we are very excited to introduce a new addition to the RSE core, Neoptolemus, our new coder who has been making WaT:AR's gameplay more fluid.

Since Blog 9, not much has changed in terms of characters or art, our main focus has been on making all the required backend code work for our upcoming alpha version which is getting closer and closer. In said blog we also promised you some gameplay and here it is! Early days but we hope you can see how WaT is shaping up.

Here we have a preview of what the character feels like during gameplay. Notice that the time of the map is set to dawn.






Next up, we have a preview of WaT:AR's day / night circle. This video has been up on our donator board for a while now but we wanted it to be a part of a larger blog before making it public.






We've also been making some concepts as to how WaT will sound. Marks put together a rough outline in a video here. We want WaT to really bring out the gory side of war.


As shown in our first video, the player gets to kill a deer. Now this is a PvP game after all and we know you all expect some action between players but worry not because this is exactly what our next blog will include.

Alpha News
As mentioned before alpha is close. We, as a team, wanted a playable alpha within a year (2017-2018) which we feel is very possible. Stay tuned for more news on that.

Web News
Finally, we are currently in the process of redesigning our websites and making them more optimised as well. After all, they are the means which help us interact with the community and therefore we will work hard on them in the near future.

Hello boys and girls and welcome to our 9th development blog, Comparisons & Current status!

In this blog we will be talking about our progress with the game since the day we announced.

Starting off with visuals, we recently looked at our old blogs and thought that they were very outdated and no longer reflected what the project is. Therefore we are providing you with screenshots of both the old and the latest stuff to "reset" the overall image of Whigs & Tories.

Those with a keen eye saw that we have a Stag in the scene. We're currently in the process of adding animals in the game implementing AI logic. We feel it would give a feeling of the frontier and make the game feel more alive in general. These animals will be killable but beware, some of them might fight back!

Development Notes / Development Blog 8 - Playtesting & Visuals.

Hello boys and girls welcome to our 8th Development blog, playtesting & visuals.

"What the heck have you been up to RSE?" I hear you ask, well dear viewer as the title says we've been doing playtesting (more from balgy on that later in the blog) but lets cover the 2nd half the visuals.

So, we've added new lighting affects that soften everything and make our normals pop a bit better. A lot of the uniforms have been editted to match the new lighting but you've seen the 23rd a million times lets have something new! Here's what I've been making since the last blog, enjoy!

Gameplay Updates

Hello everyone, Balgy here, I know that we have been very quiet about progress on the mechanics and general gameplay so far, but today we are going to defy the laws of tradition and actually inform you on the matter.
The past couple of weeks we 've been doing a lot on networking, designing menus and implementing internet play. We playtested WaT online and it was a success. Moreover, we are happy to announce that we 've successfully added steam functionallity in our game. Finally, hosting a game of WaT without a dedicated server is now possible. We will be providing more gameplay news as alpha gets closer.

Development Notes / Development Blog 7 - Music

Hello boys and girls welcome to our 7th Development blog, lets get into it.

In today's blog we will be talking about our progress. Since the last blog we've had a couple new people join the project (Dottorgrasso, Parrot) so expect great things from them in the coming weeks.

So what have we been doing? Currently Balgy is making everything ready for multiplayer (Network friendly) I (Marks) have yet again been doing more edits to the uniforms and finally Baillie has finished our main theme song enjoy.

With the multiplayer hopefully our idea for the alpha isnt too far out of reach (If all goes to plan) We dont want to promise anything but we are all hard at working and we want to get the alpha ready more than you do.

Development Notes / Development Blog 6 - 1 Year old!

Hello guys, today is our birthday! We're celebrating our 1st year as a development team. I (Marks) came up with plan of RSE/WaT back last year in July and set off to make a team and build my idea, one year in I feel im accomplished that now we just need to finish the game! With that, progess has been a bit messy due to exams, holidays and myself being away mentioned in the last blog, but enough of excuses we do have some things to show.

We'd like to introduce two new team members looking for experience Jordan and Ziv! Hopefully you'll be seeing their contributions in the next blog! With that said what should you expect in the next one? Hopefully a video or two no promises but we'd like to show off the game not just screenshots but I feel like they're pretty boring. Our next blog may be delayed to make it that little bit more juicy and I personally (Marks) feel like these last two have been lacking any real importance other than to keep you guys informed. Anyone who is very keen to know whats going on the donation board is posted on very frequently.
