Is there going to be a Beta access and a donation perk for it too? Will everyone with the Alpha access get the Beta access automatically?

We're unsure what we're going with the beta right now so it wouldnt be morally correct to sell it but yes Alpha testers will be included in the Beta :)

Hello and welcome to Blog 16 - What's next?






We regret to inform you our kickstarter was unsuccessful, we tried our best and waited 2 years to give it a shot but it seems it wasn't meant to be. We will not be launching another one.

Thank you to everyone who backed us we managed to raise £3,200 which isn't terrible for a community our size. Though all of this will be returned as we didn't reach our goal.

Let's start the blog off with answering some questions








Will the game be cancelled? : No, kickstarter was there for us to make the game that extra bit special. You will feel the difference from our first release build compared to our final patch. The game we release will be a shadow of what we're capable of but without funding we just cant do it.

Can we still buy Alpha?
: Yes, Alpha is now back on sale. Price has been lowered from £75 > £50 - http://rsegames.com/index.php?topic=12.0#forum

What's next? : Well RSE isn't discouraged we're still working on the project but we'd like some time to ourselves. We're going to go quiet for a few months until we're ready to begin the 2nd phase of testing (Beta). This means Alpha testing will be limited to play sessions.

I would suggest spectator mode be limited to player first/3rd person view and free roam camera only on the drill server.

Free roam camera is too easily abused in PvP games and can too easily stifle any attacking/flanking moves.

Drill server?

Whigs & Tories isn't a military simulation it's more like Napoleonic Wars in its approach

Problem is if you have no stamina system at all you get things like the silly jumping/bunny hopping syndrome we see in Holdfast. This kills immersion and makes it feel totally arcady.

Or just add a delay between jumping, you could just jump around during a battle in real life   ;D

Hi and good luck with your venture.

A significant proportion of combatants in the Revolutionary War were militia, particularly on the American side. Will militia feature heavily in this game?

Also, what gameplay mechanisms or rules will you have in place to encourage or enforce line infantry playing in shoulder-to-shoulder formation?

Militia will be coming :)

We don't believe in enforcing anything when it comes to gameplay. Formations and how the game will be played is down to the community. We've designed the game to be best fought in rank and file but we can't control everyone.

Things like Ingame voice chat and youtube videos of gameplay will help spread dynamic community driven gameplay.

Hello,
I absolutely love how the game looks so far and Iíve seen how you guys are trying to make regiments more realisted by being able to eat and hunt together. What would be really cool would be to have a regimental headquarters or barracks where there is things like a dining room, office for colonel, range, stables, and decorations that you can change. IMO this would add that extra realism that a regiment wants and they can have a place to do their promotions and such.

We wanted to do alot of things and a barracks was an idea (used before events/trainings) where players take a few minutes to join, people who are early could go about doing as they liked.

now I say "wanted" seeing as we didn't get funded on kickstarter (well it's looking that way) something like this idea would have to come after release where we'd have the money to use.

We want consistent gameplay, we feel adding stamina would take away from the experience. Players in our game don't move too quickly and we're aiming for 2 rank & file play (in events) having stamina wouldn't really make sense .

Being killed or stunted by a gameplay mechanic isn't nice, same thing for misfires.

Might be cute for the first 10 hours but we want our game played into the 100s  :D

Hello and welcome to blog 15!

We've been working hard since blog 14 and we are happy to introduce artillery into the Alpha build. Artillery in Whigs & Tories is a team effort, working alone is possible but slow. We feel the set up we have now will give purpose to Artillery crews on the battlefield, skill and team work will result in faster reloading times and more shots into the enemy position!

We've also added destructable enviroments!





New Uniforms.

Volt has made us some lovely uniforms. Right now we don't plan to add these until we're into the Beta stage of Whigs & Tories. Below the 71st Highlanders and 85e Are featured, enjoy!

As the title suggests I'm asking if there's any way of donating without using a creditcard or debitcard. I thoroughly wish to support this game and it's creators, but cannot do so with a creditcard (or debitcard for that matter) unfortenately.
